The Foreign Gaze and Aesthetics

This paper proposes a reflection on the relation between the process of assimilation of foreign language and culture and the position of the reader and the spectator. In questioning the differences between the three typical figures of the stranger, which are the rootless, the outsider and the uncanny, the text insist on the different articulations of the presence of the body and on the different configurations of the distance involved in the reception aesthetic.
