CARE FOR HOMOSEXUAL / BISEXUAL WOMEN IN NURSING TRAINING: PERCEPTION OF STUDENTS

In the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), completeness is one of the fundamental principles, which requires professionals to have a better knowledge of the user's health situation, considering their relationships and social history, thus ensuring an adequate and quality welcome and service. In addition, the user must be treated without distinction, among which the distinction of gender and sexual orientation is mentioned. Analyze the perception of undergraduate nursing students regarding their education in the care of homosexual and bisexual women and to identify the potentialities and weaknesses found in their academic practices. Exploratory qualitative research. Data collection took place with 15 participants, through a semi-structured interview, from September to October 2015. The analysis and interpretation were based on Bardin Content Analysis. The results were organized into three categories: influences of training on the care provided to homosexual and bisexual women; potentialities in the care of homosexual and bisexual women with regard to academic education; weaknesses and alternatives about training in the care of homosexual and bisexual women. Ultimately, was identified the need to broaden the reflection on the theme in the training, in order to train generalist nurses prepared and safe to perform adequate care to homosexual and bisexual women, taking into account their specificities.
