Nesse trabalho, tenta-se reconstituir um pouco da história do Colégiado Nossa Senhora das Dores, eucandário feminino da cidade de Diamantina que, entre 1867 e 1940, foi frequentado por jovens da elite do norte/nordeste mineiro e da Bahia. A ênfase recai sobre a análise das relações que uniam as aulunas entre si e às suas eudcadoras, de modo a aprender o funcionamento cotiano dessa tradicional escola mineira. Para isso, utilizam-se principalmente depoimentos de ex-alunas e de antigas professores do educandário.
