The paper pays homage to Arno Engelmann, Full Professor at the Department of Experimental Psychology of the University of São Paulo. Biographical data and the evolution of his career since the early stages of the Psychology course in University of São Paulo in the sixties and the relevance of his teaching and research work on Historical Evolution of Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Subjective States, Verbal reports as methodological tools of access to conscience and dispositions of mind are presented. His contributions as a teacher, researcher, colleague and friend are described through the testimony of his students, supervisees, colleagues and friends, obtained through email or telephone contacts during 2018.
