The archival practice: the methods of discipline and traditional and contemporary documents

Abstract

The methods and procedures carried through in archives are presented, relating the differences of the traditional and electronic archival documents treatment. The evidence character, the public that destines archive documents, the preservation and the secrecy and the security is pointed as premises that base the work of archivists. It is concluded that, with the introduction of the new technologies and documents produced in electronic environment, the archivists processes had not suffered great modifications, in contrast, had confided for a new reality where the access is privileged.
