Resumen

¿Sigue siendo relevante hoy en día el fenómeno de los regímenes autoritarios, incluso ante el aclamado éxito de la llamada "tercera ola de democratización"?Este ensayo examina cómo se sitúan los regímenes autoritarios en el panorama general de los regímenes del mundo, especialmente en relación con las democracias y los llamados "regímenes híbridos", regímenes que combinan rasgos democráticos y autoritarios. Sostiene que, aunque sea insostenible hablar de un "declive democrático", hay indicios de una renovación autoritaria, que se manifiesta incluso en las "capas grises" de los regímenes híbridos.
