The Ecuadorian government made many changes in the country from the productive level to the educational level. Among the new documents created or rethought in the country are: the Constitution of the Republic approved in 2008 through a popular referendum, the National Plan for Good Living, created in 2009 and the new Organic Law on Higher Education – LOES published in 2010. All these documents have a common commitment, collaborative relationship between citizens in order to made a new country where all people can live in a better way. The Artesanías Urbanas project emerges as a methodological proposal for action in urban space where the urbanism teaching meets the community. Through this experience we see how the intervention in the territory together with the community – from the activation of cultural processes such as minga [1] – can potentiate the student learning. Thus, urban issues are presented in their real complexity, which are evidenced social relations and conflicts, bringing the student of his true role as architect and demanding of them a more critical stance.
